Doğuş Datathon winners announced
Doğuş Technology's inaugural Doğuş Datathon now has its winners. The teams "Deli Veri", "Stan", and "Tripel" ranked third, second, and first, receiving awards of TRY 10 thousand, TRY 15 thousand, and TRY 20 thousand, respectively.
The participants developed creative new projects using data provided by Doğuş Group companies in the Doğuş Datathon competition.
The inaugural Doğuş Datathon 2020 received 755 individual applications and was attended by 64 teams. The Datathon, which was kicked off with the opening event on September 9, saw anonymized data collected from Doğuş Otomotiv, Doğuş Media Group and Dream Group shared with the participants to be used in the development projects on various platforms (such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle) as directed by Doğuş Technology and its partners.
The teams commenced project development after the opening event on September 9 and delivered their projects by September 13.
Prominent approaches among the projects were:
Special efforts focusing on incoming orders above typical levels (determined using the Holt Winters' Method) led to a ML pipeline solution in which several Machine Learning solutions were used consecutively, making use of modern machine learning methods (especially boosting algorithms) and certain artificial shallow neural networks.
After the projects were submitted and evaluated by the jury, the 13 teams that made it to the finals were announced on Saturday, September 19. The teams presented their projects before the jury members and their competitors at the final event on September 20.
The jury made its evaluations after listening to the presentations and approaches of all the teams based on the following criteria:
Inquisitive and innovative idea: Addressing the issue clearly, investigating the particular subject, and demonstrating a new approach.
Storytelling: Presenting the efforts carried out effectively and cohently and having an original solution method.
Solution: Clarity and the originality of the proposed solution, and the existence of alternatives.
Data-driven development: Diversity of data sources, the relationship between data and solution.
