During this challenging period, in which we have received more internship and job applications from young people than anticipated, Microsoft Azure VD allows us to integrate virtual desktops into our strategy and gain a cost advantage while creating employment without compromising security.

As a pioneering company in the IT industry, we started looking for ways to respond to the changing dynamics and new work arrangements brought about by the pandemic that also severely impacted Turkey in 2020. During this challenging period, we received more internship and job applications from young people than anticipated and gained a cost advantage without any compromises in employment or security by adding virtual desktops to our strategy. By using Azure VD to address the need to allocate hardware to each young talent arising from the constraints regarding resources and procurement brought about by the pandemic, we quickly met our new employee needs while also providing an efficient and safe working environment for all of our employees.

We contribute to youth employment with the Entry into the Future Program

We provide young talents with internships and work opportunities with our Entry into the Future program, which we implemented within the scope of the dynamics of growth, and we benefit from a highly dynamic ecosystem in this regard. Launched in 2017, the Entry into the Future program continues to introduce technology applications to ambitious, tech-savvy university students. Out of nearly 8,000 applications received in 2021, 186 young talents from 52 different universities started to work in expert teams in different layers of the technologies in which they are interested.

Flexibility and cost advantage with Azure VD in the new working models

The raw material shortage and logistics problems brought about by the pandemic have accelerated the adoption of new technologies and the increase in areas of investment. To allow our new colleagues to have a secure company connection, we decided to develop an alternative solution for the computer supply problem with the Entry into the Future program. It was not possible to provide all new employees with business computers due to pandemic conditions. Employees using their own computers also constituted a risk due to security concerns. Azure VD addressed Doğuş Technology’s need for secure infrastructure with a virtual desktop solution to be installed on the employees' own computers. Secure access and usage were ensured with a secure VPN connection. The project was smoothly integrated and implemented in the span of a week without any investments in hardware, providing a major cost advantage.

Individual sessions were created for each user. We searched for a solution to overcome this cost-increasing obstacle, developing and implementing new policies in the process. The systems of AVD users were automatically shut down at 21:00 every day with Azure VD hourly usage optimization. The systems remained closed until the next login. Automatically shutting down systems outside working hours made it possible to achieve a cost advantage of over 50% while also providing flexibility in environment management.

We successfully carried out our optimization and policy efforts to provide young talents joining the organization with fast, secure, and coherent access with Azure VD under the Entry into the Future program.

The virtual desktop solution has become an important turning point in ensuring equal opportunity and conformity with corporate security policies in the journey of transforming personal computers into business computers in hybrid working dynamics, even without access to the office.
